The Ezulwini Daily "Gnus" SAFARI HIGHLIGHT: Our current guests were rewarded with an incredible sighting of 9 lions feeding on a young hippo only a stone's throw from River Lodge. We are not sure how the hippo was killed but the pride made quick work of it. The crocodiles and vultures were lying in wait, patiently observing the lions' dominance over the carcass. Ezulwini topped all of my expectations. Absolutely gorgeous lodges and rooms. Attentive, kind, knowledgeable staff who felt like old friends by the time we left. The Safari guides were top notch and our game drives felt like a week's journey to find a leopard, which we did the day before we departed! The food was delicious and the kitchen staff catered to me in the bush better than any urban restaurant as I am gluten, dairy and egg free. Ezulwini and Africa and all the animals cast a spell on us, and we will be back to visit again. Since I have returned to "real life" I keep dreaming of our magical safari. Even my 12 year old didn't care that the WIFI was spotty- it was that amazing. Great for every member of our family from 12 to 86. The Kudyela Pride along with the Masungulo male managed to capture two impalas. One of which was shared by the pride, while the other, was for the king only. Squabbling ensued among the females and the cubs for what little meat was to be shared among them. Their meal disappeared in minutes while that of the male was savored all day long. Grazers & browsers are out in full force feeding on the remaining nutrient rich vegetation in preparation for the drier winter months ahead. With very little rains forecasted for the reserve, the coming months may prove difficult for wildlife. My daughter and I purchased our stay at River Lodge at a fund raising event without really knowing much about it. Our experience far exceeded any expectations. The remote lodge consisted of a lovely common area, chalets/suites, a small bar, outdoor dining space and observation deck overlooking the river. It was the most tranquil and relaxing spot that I had ever experienced . Everything was well maintained. Our suite was enchanting with its own plunge pool and deck, the food was fabulous and the game drives mesmerizing. Although every thing about the lodge was great, it was the staff that made our visit outstanding. Hector and Richard, our game drive team, provided an experience of a life time . We saw the โbig fiveโ as well dozens of other animal and birds. They were incredibly knowledgeable, taught us so much about the animals and the bush, as well as making us feel safe and comfortable at all times. We were so very happy to meet Glory. She took care of our every need from serving our outstanding meals, serving us wines and beverages, coordinating our schedules and sharing a friendship by joining us for evening chats and games at scrabble . Of course none of this amazing hospitality happens on its own . Ange and her husband Craig , the general managers, were relaxed and made sure was everything was 1st class. We felt pampered, spoiled , relaxed, well rested and at the same time, exhilarated. Just an overall fabulous adventure!!" Not only is her smile infectious but her genuine engagement with those around her, is what endears her to our guests. Growing up in the village of Dumphreries, in the nearby Bushbuck Ridge area, Glory always knew that the hospitality industry was her calling. Not only did her father work in maintenance at various game lodges, but her brother currently works as a safari guide. Therefore, with the support of her family, Glory attended college for tourism & hospitality to pursue her passion. The best part of her job, as she says, is meeting new people on a daily basis. Not only does she enjoy learning new skills at work, she especially loves learning about different cultures from around the world.
